Koh Samui- The Treasure Island In The Leaps Of Nature

Koh Samui is one of the most well-known island getaways in Thailand. It is roughly 700 kilometres. South of Bangkok and Bangkok Airways will reach you there in about an hour’s time. Koh Samui is also called the coconut island because of the endless line of coconut palms yielding more than two million coconuts per month.

It offers the weary traveler seemingly infinite golden beaches, sparkling blue waters, abundant greenery and a calm environment. Accommodation is in plenty with luxuriously appointed villas on the beachfront with a clear sea view and private cottages for the more budget conscious. It is quite easy to rent a villa or cottage for the duration of your stay at Koh Samui. These fall in two categories – the luxury villas of resort chains or the private cottage. The resort villa would be a part of a resort or hotel chain with standard amenities in each, but the guests would also be able to use other resort facilities. However, there are many who rent private furnished villas or cottages decorated with individual tastes and traditional Thai hospitality. The owner/manager would be able to give more personalized attention to the client. There are usually support staffs who cook, clean or offer guide facilities if asked. These are more economical for a large group or family holidaying together. It’s a more authentic and traditional experience of Thai hospitality.

Being a major international tourism destination, Koh Samui has plenty of other activities such as spa facilities, exploring waterfalls, elephant rides, paintball, sea sports, diving, fishing, golf, bungee jumping etc than the tourist attractions.

My Encounter with Koh Samui, the Land of Attractions

A hectic work life coupled with a socially busy calendar makes you feel so stressed out. When the body and mind are clamoring for a refreshing break away from the routine humdrum of life, a holiday in Thailand is just what the doctor ordered! I planned a trip to Koh Samui after a friend recommended it strongly.

Koh Samui is the largest of an archipelago of more than 80 islands. I proceeded towards my hotel, but made a mental note to book myself in a bungalow or villa next time. On the way, my jaded senses took in the breathtaking sandy beaches, the waterfalls and the lush tropical vegetation. I felt calm and tranquil. The cool sea breeze soothed my tired brow. By the time I reached my hotel, I was actually looking forward to my holiday.

Since I wanted this to be a relaxed and recharging break, I decided to proceed to the spa without much further ado. The massage followed by the spa treatment was all that I could wish for. It made me feel invigorated and fresh, and more cheerful than I had felt in ages.

The next day, I hired a motorbike and went sightseeing. I wanted to see the main Ko Samui attractions – the Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha), the Coral Buddha, the Wat Khunaram (Mummified Monk), the Laem Sor’s Pagoda, the Wat Samret, the Buddha Footprints, the famous Hinta Hinyai (Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks) and the Butterfly Garden during my short stay on the beautiful island of Koh Samui.
